About my experience with English III

This class was a very good experience because I had the opportunity to learn a lot of things I had totally forgot from my English course.

I learned about the grammar which I think is the most difficult part and also learned how to upload information in the Blogs and also in the Glog.

Was a very nice class because this class gave me the opportunity to do a lot of tings I don´t do frequently.

Jaded - Aerosmith

This is inspired by the video Jaded from Aerosmith.

Alicia wakes up in a very old palace room, she has a lot of servants around her talking to her. She gets out and runs from the room.

Alicia gets to a room where she finds a very old book. Brown, big and heavy.

She lifts it and take it to her room. Once in her room she opens the book and appears one frase: "Find the forest".

Alicia looks around her looking for some one in the room but it turns to be there is nobody there. She closes the book and leaves the room.

She runs through the palace and finds a secret door on the floor. She opens the door and look into the place then she turns back and grabs the book. She enters to the place which turns to be The Forest: a place full of plants and animals, peaceful and calm.

Finally Alicia looks the book and appears the frase: "You made it, now you can stay here forever"

She smiles and closes the book.

ALICIA:

Now I can be happy!

Chocolate cake!

What do you need to make a chocolate cake? It is so simple you will not believe it! Take note:

Ingredients:
1 + 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup melted butter
2 eggs

When you have all this you have to:

Preheat oven to 180 deg C.
Grease a cake tin.
Mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl.
Melt the butter at low heat and add to the dry ingredients. Also add milk and eggs at this point.
Mix everything together until smooth, either by hand or by using an electric mixer at slow speed.
Transfer to bake tin and bake at 350 degrees until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, approximately 35 to 45 minutes.
After the cake has cooled, slice the cake through the middle to make two layers (easier if the cake has been in the fridge).

Then you are going to do the frosting and you will need:

1/2 cup softened butter.
3 cups powdered sugar.
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder.
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
4 to 5 tablespoons lukewarm milk.

Cream the softened butter with powdered sugar in a bowl. Add cocoa, vanilla and 4 tablespoons lukewarm milk, and mix until smooth. Remember do not over-mix. If necessary, add some more milk.
Use one 1/3 of the frosting between the two layers, 1/3 on top, and the rest around the cake.

Then serve and enjoy it!

Your blood´s track in the snow

I am developing my thesis with Johana Rodríguez. Our thesis is a screenplay and a production inspired by Gabriel García Márquez´s story called: Your blood´s track in the snow.
In other words, we are doing a script which will tell the story of Nena Daconte and Billy Sánchez, newlyweds who go from Colombia to Paris for the honeymoon and when they arrive Nena starts bleeding from a finger until she gets hospitalized and dies. Billy is left alone in Paris with no money and nothing to do about it because he doesn´t speak french.
Firstly, we will have to write the script, in this sense, we have to develop the characters and take
the actions that actually happens in the book. By doing a diagram we can start to write our script with coherence and to follow the actions that take place in the book.
Secondly, we can do the production part. At this stage, the script has to be ready in order to help us know what we need to do for the production such as casting, budget and locations.
Finally, I can conclude that our thesis is a contribution to the University because this story has never been adapted for a screenplay.

Venezuelan Christmas

Venezuela and their people have a lot of Christmas traditions that go from food until street celebrations. For example, in Merida people do "La Paradura del Niño" which is a traditional act that is done in some small towns, where people from all the towns seek for the baby Jesus and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Trujillo and Táchira also have this custome. In Zulia, specifically in Maracaibo, people celebrate Christmas with "La Bajada de la Chinita" which is a celebration where people goe to "La Basílica" and stay all night long singing and celebrating with the traditional music from that state: "La Gaita". Often the celebration continues for two or three more days.
Regarding the traditional food, we prepare during this Holiday Hallacas which is a plate that the natives used to do with the leftover of the food. Nowadays we make it with a lot of ingredients like corn flour, raisons, olive, jam and all you want to put in it! People do it with all the family and in some cases with friends. We also eat "Pan de Jamón" which is made with ham, raisons and olive all this wrapped in corn flour dough.
All these traditions have remained through the years despite adversity because we know how to enjoy Chritmas holidays!
